Great Reasons to Make the Harmony Retreat YOUR Getaway Destination!
We know there are many fine vacation
rentals available in the Mt. Rainier ~ Mt. St. Helens ~ Seattle
/ Portland / Olympia / White Pass / Mayfield Lake areas. So, why
choose the Harmony Retreat at Mayfield Lake? Here are some reasons!
1. Easy to get to --
just take I-5 to exit 68 and go 22 miles east on US Hwy 12 to the
Mossyrock stoplight; you're almost there! About 90 minutes from
metro Portland and south Seattle, an hour from Olympia. No ferry
waits or crowds! Google
map here for directions from your starting point.
2. Grilling & chillaxing
-- there's a huge (550 sq ft) covered deck with a gas barbecue,
table that seats 6, adirondack chairs, so even if the weather is
cool, you can still grill & chillax outside. Have a glass of
wine too -- the first bottle's on us!
3. Hot tub in covered outdoor
spot -- enjoy it with your sweetheart, or your family or
friends! (Remember to bring your swimming suits -- the location
is pretty private, but you'll need to wear more than your birthday
suit!)
4. Pretty gardens & patio
-- walk the path to see garden art surprises, watch the
twinkling solar lights in the evening, gaze at the naturescaped
grounds from the hammock on the upstairs deck. Gather 'round the
firepit to roast marshmallows for s'mores.
5. All the comforts of home --
the kitchen is well-stocked with cooking utensils, appliances (don't
miss the Cinderella toaster!) and staples; the living room has a
37" HDTV (with wi-fi blu-ray player & Dish network with
DVR), fireplace, and cozy seating; the beds have high thread-count
sheets and memory foam toppers; the futon in the loft is perfect
for reading or sleeping; bathrooms are supplied with plenty of towels,
soap, shampoo, etc. There's even a pack'n'play portable crib for
your little one. The spacious 1520 sq ft home sleeps 8 in beds/futon/sofabed/rollaway,
plus up to 2 more on fold-out foam mattresses.
6. Right across from the lake
-- just down our road there's a community boat launch where
you can put in your kayak, canoe, or motorboat each day to explore
13-mile Mayfield Lake and adjacent Cowlitz River. (Plenty of room
to park your trailer and vehicle in the driveway while you're out
on the water). Waterskiing, waverunner riding, and fishing are popular
past-times here too. Jump in for a swim in warm weather, and watch
the setting sun from the community picnic area and dock; it's across
the street and through a greenbelt. You can even fish from the dock
-- the lake is stocked with thousands of rainbow trout and they're
easy to catch!
7. Dam impressive! --
Washington's tallest dam, Mossyrock Dam, is just 5 miles away. Check
it out from the viewpoint off Hwy 12, where you'll also see the
dam-created Riffe Lake (which submerged some small towns back in
the day). Try out the gut-busting "Best Dam Burger" at
the Pioneer Bar & Grill; or a (dam) buena burrito at El Amigo
Mexican Cafe. Read
all about the Dam here.
8. "All aboard!" --
Take a steam train excursion for a step back in time, on the vintage
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad in nearby Elbe. Check
out the special event rides scheduled year-round.
9. "Volcano country"
-- visit Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens or take a longer
drive to Mt. Adams. Go
to this link for details.
10. A hidden treasure --
just think, you can tell your friends, family and coworkers that
you went to Mayfield Lake for the weekend and they'll say "where's
that?" or "never heard of it." Then you can brag
about your great find -- a serene, beautiful setting in nature with
lake views and boat access; spacious, cozy, welcoming accommodations;
and a relaxing break away from busy city life. |
